Learners-Insurance.com - Help and advice on buying provisional driving license insurance

Welcome to Learners-Insurance.com

The Driving Standards Agency recommends that learner drivers get at least 22 hours of private practise under their belt, as well as all the time on the road with an approved driving instructor.  In the past many learner drivers would go out with a friend or family member.  This is still an option, however many insurers will no longer insure a young driver who is under 25 on their parents insurance policy.  For those who still do, the cost of insuring someone with a provisional license on an existing insurance policy can be prohibitive.

So what is the prospective young learner driver to do?

Well, a new option which has emerged over the last few years is a specialist learner driver insurance policy.  These offer several advantages over being added to an existing policy.  First of all they can be bought over short periods, generally 1 month to start with then as short as 7 days for policy renewals.  Secondly if the person that is taking the provisional license holder out has a no-claims bonus it will be protected.  Leaner driver insurance policies are written in the name of the provisonal license holder, so if the young driver DOES have to make a claim, it is made on the learner driver's insurance policy, not their parents'!
